Seeka was delighted to host our Reality of Road Risk event in Perth recently, alongside some of our colleagues from Morrison Data Services.
The event is the second in a series of events aimed to remind our colleagues of the actions they can take to improve safety for all road users.
The day was attended by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, who delivered a presentation on ‘The Fatal Five’, the five main causes of fatal collisions, which included videos highlighting the dangers of driving under the influences and mobile phone use.
The Fire and Rescue Service also gave our colleagues and insight into how impactful a collision can be, as attendees experienced an incident through virtual reality headsets.
Attendees found the event informative. Gary, Seeka Revenue Protection Operative, said : ‘The event highlighted a great awareness of road regulations. It was good to get a refresher.”
Ross, another Seeka Revenue Protection Operative, added “The excellent presentation given by the Fire and Rescue Service made us really think about our driving and road safety.”
Speaking on the day, Kevin Carty, Occupational Road Risk Manager, said: “We continue to engage with our workforce on the importance of safe driving. I want to thank the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service for attending our Perth event and their valuable contribution. The fire service provided VR headsets which let us experience a road traffic collision with a 360-degree view.
“The event reminded us why completing vehicle walkaround checks are vital. As part of our commitment to learning from incidents, we were able to share Samsara footage and discuss the importance of being attentive while behind the wheel.”
Across M Group Services, we are committed to putting the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, and the public first. The Energy Division SHEQ team looks forward to hosting more events throughout the year.
